KNOWLEDGE SESSION - GOODS AND SERVICES TAX

3 August 2016 marked a landmark moment for India as the Upper House passed the 122nd Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2014 introducing the Goods and Services Tax (GST). This will be the first step in the legislative journey as India switches over from the present multiplicity of taxes to a single National value added tax. Much work remains and with implementation date of April 1st 2017 ratification in the states, decision and agreement on rates and IT/Administrative processes remain to be clarified.
