Lalbagh, Bangalore

India is said to generate 25,940 tonnes of plastic waste a day (Source: CPCB). Most of it goes unprocessed and some even ends up in our water bodies. All the plastic ever made still exists as it takes 500 years to decompose!

The Swedish Alumni Network India - Bengaluru Chapter, in association with the Swedish Institute and Swedish Chamber of Commerce India is organizing plogging event at Lalbagh on the occasion of the World Environment Day. ‘Plogging’ is a combination of jogging and plocka upp, Swedish for picking up (litter). Lalbagh is an iconic landmark in the city of Bengaluru. Spread over 240 acres, the botanical garden is one of the oasis of biodiversity in the heart of the city. Lalbagh is a popular tourist spot, and is prone to plastic pollution.

The Swedish Alumni Network India - Bengaluru Chapter, formally recognized with the Swedish Institute, is focused on promoting sustainable development goals. The Chapter organizes several awareness sessions and activities throughout the year in Bengaluru.
