SANDVIK INDIA GENDER AWARDS 2019

Sandvik Asia Private Limited hosted its third edition of the ‘Sandvik India Gender Awards’ to resonate gender philosophy in the community on 27th July 2019 at Hyatt Regency, Pune. The award recognized individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in promoting gender equality across the sectors. Dr. Shanta Sinha (Padma Shri) was the keynote speaker of the event. The grand jury for the award was Ms. Ulrika Sundberg, Consul General of Sweden in Mumbai, Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India, and Ms. Sara Larsson, General Manager, Swedish Chambers of Commerce India along with Mr. Erwin Steinhauser, Managing Director, Sandvik Asia Private Limited.

The Sandvik India gender award in 2019 had 600 plus application out of which 25 finalists went through a Grand Jury process on 26th July and among them, 8 winners in eight cross-cutting sectors across India were awarded;

Academia- Dr. Abha Rishi, BIMTECH, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Government- Sarojini Brahma, Smart City Bhubaneshwar, Orissa.

Social Venture- Dr. Archana Shukla Mukherjee, Change Alliance, New Delhi.

Corporate CSR- Vinayak Kelkar, PRAJ, Pune, Maharashtra.

Not for Profit- Pooja O Murada, Sehgal Foundation, Gurugram Haryana Corporate Policy- Debdatta Baxi, McCain, New Delhi

Community Based Organization- Dulari Khatoom, Swayam, Kolkata, West Bengal

Independent- Mana Mandlekar, Alampur, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

Speaking of the involvement of the Sweden and Swedish companies of India, Ms. Sara Larsson, General Manager, Swedish Chamber of Commerce India said, “It is great to be part of the Sandvik India Gender Awards and see the development over the last three years. Specially, to see the way the Sandvik team works with the winners to further strengthen their projects and build impact. This is not just an Award but a journey.

Ms. Lila Poonawalla (Padma Shri), Ex-Managing Director of Alfa Laval also graced the occasion and gave away the category awards. Mr. Giovanni Valent, Managing Director Atlas Copco and representatives of Swedish Companies, United Nations representatives, NGO leaders, Government, and Sandvik employees attended the event.
