Kamal Bali - Chairperson

Kamal Bali is the Managing Director of the Volvo Group in India. With a career spanning three decades, predominantly in the Automotive (tractors) and the CE industry, Kamal has worked for well-known Indian brands and also established and developed multinational corporations in India. He has had a broad experience in the functional areas of sales, marketing, finance, human resources, and exercised significant P&L responsibilities.

An engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kamal began his professional career with Eicher Group in 1981. Later, he headed the Sales function for Escorts’ Tractors & Claas Harvestors nationally, followed by the position of CEO & Managing Director for Same Deutz -Fahr Group in India, and Escorts Construction Equipment.

Prior to joining Volvo India, Kamal was working as the President & CEO of LeeBoy India Construction Equipment Private Limited. Kamal is based in Bangalore and reports at the Volvo Group level in Goteburg to Niklas Gustavsson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Volvo India.

Nitin Bansal

Nitin Bansal is the Head of Network Solutions in the recently created Market Area South East Asia, Oceania and India (MOAI). He holds additional responsibility as Country Manager for Ericsson India. In his current role, he drives the Network Solutions function for the Company across key markets like India, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand amongst others. 

Prior to this, Nitin was Vice President & Head of Network Products for Ericsson in India; a position he held for almost 2 years. He has spent more than 16 years in Ericsson and has held leadership positions in sales and business development across different markets. 

Nitin has a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Pune and an MBA in Strategy, Finance, Marketing & General Management from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

Peter Betzel

Peter joined IKEA in 1993 because of its vision, culture and values, which are the driving forces behind his passion for growth. In his last assignment, he was the Country Manager for IKEA Germany for 6 years and during this time, it became the best performing IKEA market. Prior to that, he was the Country Manager, IKEA Spain.

During his tenure, he has had extensive store experience, which he believes is the best platform to understand the core of the IKEA business. Peter now has ambitious plans to lead the India story to success and both people and business growth are high on his agenda.

Ricky Dhillon

Ricky Dhillon is an entrepreneur and currently leading his latest venture Otivr as CEO that is focusing on innovation and development in the technology space. Prior to that he focused on business development and partnerships for DHF Airport Systems that specializes in intelligent software for central monitoring, fault detection and alarm analysis. Ricky has also represented Business Sweden in India in supporting Swedish firms to establish locally, where a major part was finding local partners, setting-up local establishments and procuring local services.

Ricky is particularly involved and invested in start-up ecosystem of Sweden and India, with a passion for enabling and facilitating the entry of Swedish start-ups to India, both for development and market.

Saija Korkala

Saija Korkala is the Chief Representative, India at SEB – a leading Nordic financial services group with a strong belief that entrepreneurial minds and innovative companies are key to creating a better world. In Sweden and the Baltic countries, SEB offers financial advice and a wide range of financial services.

In Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Germany the bank's operations have a strong focus on corporate and investment banking based on a full-service offering to corporate and institutional clients. The international nature of SEB's business is reflected in its presence in some 20 countries worldwide. The representative office in India, New Delhi, was established in 2008.

Saija has worked in banking for almost 18 years and with SEB for over 15 years. She has held different roles ranging from Markets Sales covering derivatives, FX, advisory, project management and recently Institutional Client Coverage. Prior to her assignment in India, Saija was Client Executive for a portfolio of largest Finnish financial institution clients as well as part of the country management group of SEB in Finland. She is a culture enthusiast and enjoys traveling and sporty family activities.

Ashutosh Manohar

Ashutosh is responsible for Tetra Pak’s business operations in the South Asia Markets including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan and based out of the Tetra Pak India headquarters in Gurgaon. Ashutosh has held a variety of management and leadership positions at Tetra Pak across Europe and Asia for over 16 years.

In his last assignment he was Vice President-Carton Value and Carton Economy in Italy, where he was instrumental in product development, deployment and ensuring product profitability. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of Iran and Cluster Leader for Marketing and Product Management, Greater Middle East.

Petr Novotny

Petr Novotny is the Managing Director of Scania CV India, based in Narsapura, Karnataka since September 2018, taking over from Stefan Palskog who also served on Chamber’s board.

He has enjoyed a decade long stint in Scania, South Africa and Germany. And as a Finance Controller in Coca Cola, he worked in 30 countries; led bank audits for Deloitte and worked with Chinese counterparts for Phillip Morris.

Petr completed his M.Sc. from University of Economics, Czech Republic, MBA from University of Wales, UK and a few other degrees and certifications in accounting and auditing.

He enjoys playing team sports, travelling and learning different cultures, reading and listening to rock music.

Ola Rignell

Ola joined Saab in India in August 2018 as Chairman & Managing Director. Prior to this, he was heading Saab’s operations in Malaysia. Ola has held various leadership positions at SAAB AB, including Director of Business Development, Aviation Training, at Support & Services and Director for Flight Test and Verification at Aeronautics division.

Before joining Saab in 1995, he spent eleven years working for the Swedish Air Force as an operational pilot on the Viggen fighter aircraft holding different positions within flight operations.

Sanjeev Sharma

Sanjeev Sharma is the Country Managing Director of ABB India Ltd., a part of ABB Group - one of the world’s leading engineering companies that helps its customers produce and use electrical power efficiently, to increase industrial productivity and to lower environmental impact in a sustainable way.

Group recorded revenue of US$ 35 billion in 2015 and has 1,35,000 employees. India is the seventh largest contributor to ABB group revenue and has around 9,000 employees.

Sanjeev has spent close to 30 years at ABB, having worked in different roles including business operations, sales and marketing, strategy and product management across Europe, South East Asia and India.

Prior to this appointment, Sanjeev was the global Managing Director for ABB’s Low Voltage Systems business unit, where he was based in Malaysia. He brings extensive experience in industrial automation and electrification across market segments and geographies and has led several successful change management initiatives across global operations.

Sanjeev is an electrical and telecommunications engineer and with various management degrees. His personal interests range from shaping young minds through mentoring to mountain climbing.

Erwin Steinhauser

Erwin Steinhauser was appointed Managing Director for Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd. in March 2018 but he has been with Sandvik since the late 1990s and has held several management positions at its various legal entities in Europe. Erwin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration as well as in Business Engineering.

His credo is to reduce complexity to a minimum, making things simpler and easier to understand and execute – an approach, he maintains, that always results in greater robustness, stability and efficiency. Erwin is convinced that developing women’s potential by utilizing their talents and skills and reaching gender equality in opportunities and benefits, will generate higher economic growth.

Frederic Widell

Frederic Widell is the Vice President and Head of South Asia and Managing Director India for Oriflame, since August 2018.

Frederic has had a highly successful career record with Oriflame for nearly 10 years in the past. His previous assignments included being Managing Director for four different key Oriflame markets; Sri Lanka, Vietnam, India and Indonesia; as well as being the VP & Head in the former Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Widell left the company in 2013 to explore other opportunities and added diverse experience to his profile. His passion for Oriflame and India made him join back with the aim to build the company into the leading direct selling company in beauty and wellness.

Honorary Board Member - His Excellency Ambassador Klas Molin

His Excellency Klas Molin was appointed the Ambassador of Sweden to India starting Sept 1, 2017, and presented his credentials to the President of India on Nov 23.

Klas began his service with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985 and have served in many different roles since. He has extensive experience from the Asian region, having served as the Ambassador to Thailand (2011-2015), accredited also to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of the Philippines.

He has also served as the Second Secretary, Permanent Representation of Sweden to the UN, New York and before assuming office as the Head of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi, he was Ambassador and Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Stockholm.

Honorary Board Member- Gautam S. Bhattacharyya

Gautam S. Bhattacharyya is the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi.

This is Gautam’s second posting in New Delhi, and he has also worked in the Swedish Embassy in Santiago de Chile, and at the departments for International Trade Policy, Asia and Oceania and Human Resources in Stockholm. He has worked in the private sector as well, with Public Affairs consultancy firm Springtime AB and Marivent Research, a consulting firm specializing in investigative due diligence in the Indian and other emerging markets. Being an economist, he is especially interested in the macro perspectives of global economy and policy.

In his free time, he devotes his energy towards organizing and engaging with the Hindu and Indian diaspora community in Sweden and globally.

Honorary Board Member - Anna Lekvall

Anna Lekvall is the Consul General of Sweden in Mumbai, India.

Anna has over 20 years of experience in international development and democracy. She has held positions at the Swedish Mission to the United Nations, the Embassy of Uganda, the Swedish Export Credit Agency and the Swedish International Development Agency. Before taking up this post she was assigned the task to start up a new government initiative - the Center Against Preventing Violent Extremism (www.cve.se)

Anna is specialized in international economics and development, democracy, diversity and human rights. In 2007 she was granted the Jonas Weiss Memorial Award for her work within the Juba peace process.

Ltd. Lila Poonawalla is the Former Chairperson and Managing Director of Tetra Pak India Ltd and Alfa Laval India Ltd, Former Chairperson of DeLaval India Pvt. Ltd. Her Past Directorships include Industrial Development Bank of India Ltd. as Nominee of Finance Ministry, Bank of Maharashtra as a Director and Neilsoft Ltd. as a Director.

She is a recipient of many awards both National and International including the prestigious Padmashree, in 1989, by the Indian Government, which was received at the hands of the then President of India, Dr. Venkatraman and recipient of International recognition from the King of Sweden in 2003, with the Polar Star Award and named as the Officer of the Royal Order.

Besides her professional success, she discovered the joy of giving and hence, started the “Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF)” in 1996, while she was still at her professional pinnacle. Girls who are academically outstanding but, economically needy are gifted with an outright grant (scholarship) to pursue either post graduation studies and under graduation studies. She also has a special program for school children being implemented. Since its inception, almost 3500 scholarships have been granted by the Foundation.

Advisory Board- Anders Wickberg

Anders Wickberg is the Trade Commissioner of Sweden to India and Market Area Director South Asia at Business Sweden since July 2019. In this role, his responsibility spans India and neighbouring South Asian countries - Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

Before moving to India, Anders was Trade Commissioner of Sweden to Indonesia 2015-2019. His previous work experience includes several years at Accenture Strategy and various line management positions from Essity, ICA group and DeLaval International.

Anders is an alumnus of Uppsala University and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
